Our Student Voices

Our training reverberates around a hospital setting as described by our past students

Did you enjoy participating in the program and why?

"I really enjoyed working through the Six Sigma Yellow Belt program.  It made me think and walk outside my comfort zone and taught me life-long skills that will benefit me both at work and in my personal life." Patti Taylor

"Absolutely, I learned valuable skills that I use every day. It gave me the opportunity to collaborate with individuals outside of my department and implement education that showed improved outcomes. I also got the opportunity to listen to other hospital’s barriers and how they are addressing efficiency limitations. It allows individuals across hospitals to learn and grow from each other and I am thankful I had that opportunity." Jennifer Smith, MHA, PMP

I did enjoy participating in this program it gave me an outlook on ways to come up with problem solving and use of resources to utilize best practice not only for the patients but also for the hospital. Jeremy Miller,RRT,RCP

What skills did you learn from the program and have they assisted you in the workplace?

"The biggest skill I walked away with was “listening to the voice of the customer”.  I know that sounds cliché, however; in healthcare it is extremely important to know what expectations our patients have of us.  It allows us to see our facility through their experience." Patti Taylor

"Yes, my LSSYB required data analysis, fishbone development, process mapping, presentation skills and collaboration. These are skills I use everyday at the BSWQA and skills I will continue to use moving forward. I reference my project frequently as I develop new projects/programs." Jennifer Smith, MHA, PMP

The skills I learned from the program were how to gather information record data and come up with a way to use all of that while working together as a team which gave a different perspective on things, these skills are still being used today in order to decrease days on ventilators and better patient outcomes. Jeremy Miller,RRT,RCP

Our Prior Case Hospitals report their success

Our Lady of Lourdes RMC

Cecile Broussard, BSN

Mr. Steve Griffin was the Master Black Belt that trained us for the first Green Belt class at our hospital. His class was extremely educational and his support throughout the project was excellent. It has made us a much more efficient place to work with improvements in patient satisfaction, work flow, and cost savings. I recommend his expertise to bring any organization to new levels of performance.

Vindell Washington, MD, MHCM

6 Sigmatek trained over 100 green belts, 300 yellow belts, 30 white belts and 60 champions; this effort represents over 8,000 hours of training. As a leader Steve consistently deployed humor and light heartedness while driving hard for results. He demonstrated patience when educating our young team members and challenged our black belts to achieve. This ability to encourage achievement with a sophisticated tool set – motivating the inexperienced and inspiring the seasoned – is rare.

The knowledge that I have gained from my mentorship with Mr. Griffin is greatly appreciated. It has afforded me the opportunity to work on other process improvement projects in other departments in the hospital. Mr. Griffin is an intelligent and successful young man with a lot of valuable knowledge to share. Anyone interested in improving processes through six sigma programs, will not be disappointed.

DFWHC Foundation

It was honor to be able to have our team selected for this course. Obviously, the primary reason was to have the opportunity to be taught Six Sigma content by the subject matter experts at the DFWHC & 6sigmatek. Also, being able to work with some of my team from the hospital to enhance operational challenges brought us closer as a team and helped us get exposure to ideas at other facilities.
